That is precisely what the American flag stands for and has always promised: Liberty and Justice for ALL. When we raise additional flags for specific identity groups (even with the very best intentions), we unintentionally send the message that some students are separate from the whole and need extra symbols to feel included. That small, subtle message of separation plants seeds of division in young hearts. Over time those seeds grow into the very feelings of “us vs. them” we're trying to prevent. We don’t need new flags to prove we care. We have one flag, one nation, indivisible, that declares every child belongs. Let’s teach our kids that they are seen, loved, and protected under the same stars and stripes; because they truly are. We are ONE. @ @EDSecMcMahon @usedgov
