https://www.ctbraininjury.com/direct-support-professional-dsp A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a trained professional who provides support and assistance to individuals with brain injuries, also known as Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). DSPs help with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing transportation, medication management, and other forms of assistance. DSPs can also provide support with activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping. Additionally, DSPs can also assist in helping individuals with brain injuries to develop and maintain social skills and improve their communication. There are many resources available for individuals with brain injuries and their families, such as support groups, rehabilitation centers, and community programs. â ABI Resources works with multiple organizations, including DSS, DMHAS, WWP, CCC, CCCI, SWCAA, WCAAA, Allied, Yale, UConn, Gaylord, HFSC, and more to provide the best care for individuals. â ABI Resourcesâ commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive community for clients is well known. They offer a variety of team-building activities, social events, and volunteer opportunities to help clients stay engaged and connected with others. This not only helps clients recover from their injuries but also helps them build friendships, create social connections, and gain a sense of belonging.
