An evidence-preservation receipt can document what an agency received and how it was handled. It does not prove authenticity, review, admissibility, wrongdoing, or obstruction. Record six fields. First: the exact file name and format. Second: the date, time, and intake channel. Third: the file’s SHA-256 hash. Fourth: the assigned custodian and storage location. Fifth: every transfer, access event, or format change. Sixth: the retention status and written disposition. Preserve the original file separately from working copies. A receipt is not an investigation. A hash can show whether bytes changed; it does not prove who created the record or whether its contents are true. A missing receipt is a documentation gap, not proof of deletion, spoliation, or fraud. Read the source-linked record at david-medeiros.com.
